About Élise

Posted by elisehendrick under

Élise Hendrick is a translator, writer, and editor based in Cincinnati, OH, US.

As a translator and editor, she works with Russian, Japanese, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Norwegian, Dutch, Portuguese, and English, specialising in legal, medical, technical, and financial documents, as well as press releases, essays, and articles.

She is also available to do monolingual copyediting, to improve structure, organisation, and readability of everything from short articles to dissertations.

In her writing, Élise Hendrick focuses on political commentary and satire on current issues, primarily in the US and Germany. Her main political blog, Meldungen aus dem Exil, contains mostly German-language (but some English-language) essays on freedom of speech in the US and Germany, war, the daily absurdities of the corporate media, the Israel-Palestine conflict, and issues facing the modern Left.

In addition to her political commentaries, which have been published in the online newspaper Neue Rheinische Zeitung and the alternative Jewish magazine DER SEMIT, Élise is currently working her first book, under the working title Reunion – A Travelogue.

Simultaneously humourous and introspective, Reunion (planned release date: Mid-January) follows Élise on a trip through Germany, Poland, Austria, Italy, Spain, and France, to get acquainted with familiar places and explore new ones, after a ten-year absence from the Continent. The foreword to Reunion, which recounts a surreal journey from Munich to Berlin in December 1996, is being published serially to the project website. Anyone interested can make a donation to help finance the voyage, or buy their advance copy at the discount price of US$ 12.00  here.

Her poetry, a combination of sentimental and satirical looks at every day life at the macro and micro levels can be found at Versi vita lotta.

  2. Mark Richie Said,

Thanks Eise for your speaking out about Blankfort. AS I posed on CAfe Intifada, I think the explanation for his prominence in what passes for a ‘movement’ is that he is part of an informal, cliquish network of closet, pseudo, crypto zionists, who control MECA, ANSWER, JVP, UFPJ, etc. etc. and most of the so called ‘cadre’ organizations as well. This network is mostly Jewish, largely ‘red diaper’ types..

Whie they privately have clucked their tongues about his habit of cop baiting or race baiting anyone who disagrees for years, they won’t say a word in public about their friend. He has at least two radio shows here in Northern California on ‘public’ radio. The international and political news at all the small ‘public’ radio stations in this area are staffed by people who are personal friends of his, for example, usually OLD OLD friends, and the younger people there know better than to run afou of this informal network–they’d be purged on some spurious charge immediatey, much as happens in the corporate world.

He’s called me personally an ADL agent for years, in public, several times in the last few days on Dissident Voice, just for example.

I find it interesting he won’t engage in any exchange now on Cafe Intifada. I think he knows he’s ‘gone too far’ this time!

    Mark Richie
